Quantum Digital and DTS Bring Hard
Rock
Legends AC/DC to the Big Screen
Exclusive cinema screenings of Landmark 1991
Concert Recording of AC/DC Live At Donnington
DVD to be
Released November 3rd by Sony Music
London / 23 October 2003
This really is the ultimate combined sonic and visual experience for
every fan of the hardest rockers on the planet: the legendary AC/DC,
on stage at the famed Monsters Of Rock festival at Castle Donington,
on August 17, 1991 – now coming to select Odeon cinemas for a
special one-night only experience on Tuesday October 28th – delivered
by Odeon’s alternative content organiser Quantum Digital (www.quantumdigital.co.uk)
in 5.1 DTS Digital Surround®.
Released on Epic/Legacy in a letterboxed DVD format (visually similar
to a film), this storming release will thrill fans in the cinema with
a unique, big screen experience, the next best thing to being there
for real! Odeon’s Head of Digital Cinema (and Quantum MD) Marc
John, said: “There’s no place like cinema to deliver the
ultimate audio and visual experience, with cutting edge digital technology
we can now take fans into a new world. With AC/DC we expect to do exactly
that, this hard rock at it’s hardest and best!”
This event marks the second collaboration between Quantum Digital
Cinema Ltd and DTS, who achieved a major worldwide success with David
Bowie Live and Interactive to over 86 venues in 22 countries in September
2003, marking the first time that live, digital 5.1 audio had been
transmitted via satellite to cinemas.
Ted Laverty, director of business development for DTS Europe, comments “DTS
Digital Surround® brings the full live concert experience to life
with the highest possible sound quality, both in the cinema and on
DVD. This makes DTS the premier audio format for music-- in cinema
and home entertainment.”
The specially-edited cinema show will play for competition winners
exclusively at Odeon’s Birmingham, Glasgow and Covent Garden,
London. Competition entry details can be found by clicking on a special
URL link found at Kerrang.com, Hardplace.net or Odeon.co.uk from October
20th. The competition closes Monday October 27th.
Not only does this DVD capture the raw power, sound and showmanship
of the world’s biggest rock band at the height of their powers,
it also contains a number of awesome extras for a unique interactive
rock experience. Bonus features include audio commentary by band members
Angus Young, Malcolm Young, Brian Johnson and Cliff Williams. Another
option allows fans to focus on just one member for the length of an
entire song. Fans can watch Angus continuously on "Thunderstruck," "Back
In Black,” and "Highway To Hell.” The option is offered
for Malcolm on "T.N.T.," Brian on "Whole Lotta Rosie" and
Cliff on "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap."
When they hit the stage at Donington, the Aussie rockers were touring
behind The Razor’s Edge, an album that yielded two hit singles: "Money
Talks” and "Thunderstruck" (the song that leads off
this DVD). AC/DC were clearly energized by their return to touring
and it shows in this performance. This is one of the great live concert
videos of all time, showing one of rock's most formidable powers.
